RE/MAX Expands Its Leadership Position in Southwest Suburbs Home Sales

The RE/MAX Northern Illinois network increased its market share leadership in the Southwest Suburbs market area during 2007 based on sales data available through the Multiple Listing Service of Northern Illinois (MLSNI). RE/MAX agents listed 30.1 percent of all homes sold in the area, up from 29.8 percent during the prior year.

Home sales reported by the MLSNI totaled 4,418 in the Southwest Suburbs during 2007, a decrease of 26 percent from the 5,970 homes sold during 2006.

The Southwest Suburbs market area includes the communities of Alsip, Blue Island, Bridgeview, Burbank, Chicago Ridge, Crestwood, Evergreen Park, Hickory Hills, Hometown, Justice, Lemont, Merrionette Park, Midlothian, Oak Forest, Oak Lawn, Orland Hills, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Palos Hills, Palos Park, Posen, Robbins, Tinley Park and Worth.

The top five real estate organizations in the Southwest Suburbs during 2007, in terms of sold listings, were RE/MAX with 1,329 (30.1 percent), Coldwell Banker with 536 (12.1 percent), Century 21 with 463 (10.5 percent), Realty Executives with 233 (5.3 percent) and Prudential with 142 (3.2 percent). Data maintained by the MLSNI may not reflect all real estate activity in a specific market area.

RE/MAX also led the Southwest Suburbs market in homes purchased. In 2007, RE/MAX agents represented buyers who purchased 23.3 percent of all listed homes sold in the area, topping Century 21 (12 percent), Coldwell Banker (11.5 percent), Realty Executives (4.3 percent) and Prudential (3.4 percent).
