RE/MAX Continues To Lead Chicago Real Estate Market

RE/MAX was responsible for more Chicago real estate homes than any other real estate organization during the first half of 2008. RE/MAX has maintained the number one position in the Chicagoland market for the last 19 years.

RE/MAX agents listed 19.8 percent, or one of every five homes sold during the first six months of 2008. In Chicago suburbs real estate, RE/MAX led with a 26.1 percent market share, selling more than one of every four homes.
During the same period, RE/MAX agents represented buyers in 16.5 percent of transactions, including 21.8 percent in the Chicago suburbs, more than any other real estate company.

The data, which was provided by Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED), also showed that 34,213 residential listings were sold during the first half of 2008 in the seven-county Chicago metropolitan area, which includes Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties. That is 29.2 percent fewer than the 48,337 homes sold in the first six months of 2007.

RE/MAX agents listed 6,780 (19.8 percent) of the properties sold. Trailing RE/MAX in market share were Coldwell Banker with 5,045 sales (14.7 percent), Century 21 with 2,272 sales (6.6 percent), Baird & Warner with 1,745 sales (5.1 percent), GMAC with 1,664 sales (4.9 percent), Prudential with 1,150 sales (3.4 percent), @Properties with 958 sales (2.8 percent), Realty Executives with 827 sales (2.4 percent) and Keller Williams with 798 sales (2.3 percent). Data maintained by MRED may not reflect all real estate activity in the market.

In Chicagoland, no one helped more buyers purchase homes than RE/MAX. During the first half of 2008, RE/MAX agents led the way with a 16.5 percent market share. Other companies in the top five were Coldwell Banker with 12.2 percent, Century 21 with 7.4 percent, Baird & Warner with 5.4 percent and GMAC with 3.8 percent.
According to MRED data, RE/MAX was the market share leader for listings sold in six of the seven counties, and it led all seven counties in buyer representation. RE/MAX also was the market share leader in more than 200 towns and communities across Chicagoland.

Cook County - Of the 20,199 listed homes sold in Cook County, RE/MAX led with 14.2 percent and was number one in buyer representation with 11.4 percent.

DuPage County - Of the 3,980 listed homes sold in DuPage County, RE/MAX led with 27.5 percent and was number one in buyer representation with 22.7 percent.

• Elgin Area - Of the 1,203 listed homes sold in the Elgin market area, RE/MAX led with 30.9 percent and was number one in buyer representation with 27.8 percent. The Elgin market includes the communities of Burlington, Carpentersville, East Dundee, Elgin, Genoa, Gilberts, Hampshire, Hanover Park, Lake Marion, Pingree Grove, Plato, Sleepy Hollow, South Elgin, Streamwood and West Dundee.

• Fox Valley - Of the 761 listed homes sold in the Fox Valley market, RE/MAX led with 36.7 percent and was number one in buyer representation with 28.6 percent. The Fox Valley market includes the communities of Batavia, Elburn, Geneva, North Aurora, St. Charles, Sugar Grove and Wayne.

• Greater South Suburbs - Of the 1,973 listed homes sold in the Greater South Suburbs market, RE/MAX led with 25.5 percent and was the leader in buyer representation with 17.3 percent. The Greater South Suburbs market includes the communities of Beecher, Burnham, Calumet City, Calumet Park, Chicago Heights, Country Club Hills, Crete, Dolton, East Hazel Crest, Flossmoor, Glenwood, Grant Park, Harvey, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Lansing, Lynwood, Markham, Matteson, Midlothian, Oak Forest, Olympia Fields, Park Forest, Richton Park, Riverdale, Sauk Village, South Chicago Heights, South Holland, Steger, Thornton and University Park.

Kane County - Of the 1,979 listed homes sold in Kane County, RE/MAX led with 31.2 percent and was number one in buyer representation with 25.8 percent.

Kendall County – Of the 681 listed homes sold in Kendall County, RE/MAX was number one in buyer representation with 22.5 percent.

• LaGrange - Of the 272 listed homes sold in the LaGrange market area, RE/MAX led with 21.3 percent, and it was first in buyer representation with 16.5 percent. The LaGrange market includes the communities of Countryside, Hodgkins, Indian Head Park, LaGrange, LaGrange Highlands, LaGrange Park, McCook, Western Springs and Willow Springs.

Lake County - Of the 2,968 listed homes sold in Lake County, RE/MAX led with 27.2 percent and was number one in buyer representation with 25.1 percent.

• Lincoln Way – Of the 414 listed homes sold in the Lincoln Way market area, RE/MAX led with 34.5 percent and was number one in buyer representation with 28.5 percent. The Lincoln Way market includes the communities of Frankfort, Green Garden, Manhattan, Mokena, New Lenox and Wilton Center.

McHenry County - Of the 1,403 listed homes sold in McHenry County, RE/MAX led with 24.2 percent and was number one in buyer representation with 24.7 percent.

• Northwest Suburbs - Of the 3,192 listed homes sold in the Northwest Suburbs market area, RE/MAX led with 28.3 percent and was also the leader in buyer representation at 23.5 percent. The Northwest Suburbs market includes the communities of Arlington Heights, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Keeneyville, Mt. Prospect, Niles, Palatine, Park Ridge, Prospect Heights, Rolling Meadows, Roselle, Schaumburg, Streamwood and Wheeling.

• O’Hare Suburbs – Of the 266 listed homes sold in the O’Hare Suburbs market area, RE/MAX led with 28.9 percent, while also leading in buyer representation with 18.4 percent. The O’Hare Suburbs market includes the communities of Elmwood Park, Franklin Park, Harwood Heights, Leyden Township, Norridge, Northlake, River Grove, Rosemont and Schiller Park.

• Southwest Suburbs - Of the 1,625 listed homes sold in the Southwest Suburbs market, RE/MAX led with 30.1 percent and was the buyer representation leader with 24.1 percent. The Southwest Suburbs market includes the communities of Alsip, Blue Island, Bridgeview, Burbank, Chicago Ridge, Crestwood, Evergreen Park, Hickory Hills, Hometown, Justice, Lemont, Merrionette Park, Midlothian, Oak Forest, Oak Lawn, Orland Hills, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Palos Hills, Palos Park, Posen, Robbins, Tinley Park and Worth.

• West Towns - Of the 889 listed homes sold in the West Towns market area, RE/MAX led with 21.7 percent and was number one in buyer representation at 18.4 percent. The West Towns market includes Berwyn, Broadview, Brookfield, Cicero, Forest Park, Forest View, Lyons, North Riverside, Oak Park, River Forest, Riverside, Stickney and Westchester.

Will County - Of the 3,003 listed homes that were sold in Will County, RE/MAX led with 29.6 percent, and it was number one in buyer representation with 23.3percent.

Aurora Real Estate Agent To Sponsor RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon Visit At Hall Elementary School On AUG. 28

Aurora IL real estate expert Kathy Brothers, a sales associate with RE/MAX Great American North in Wasco, will bring the RE/MAX hot air balloon to the students at Hall Elementary School, 2001 Heather Dr., Aurora, Ill. on August 28. The class will learn about hot air ballooning during a special interactive educational program. The visit is part of an on-going balloon education program developed by RE/MAX, the Chicago real estate leader.

The 600 students at the school will see a presentation that covers various aspects of ballooning, including its history, the scientific principles involved and a demonstration on how the balloon functions. The program will be presented at 8:30 a.m. If weather conditions permit, the presentation will take place outdoors and the 75-foot-tall balloon will be fully inflated with hot air. Otherwise, the presentation will be moved indoors.

St. Charles Real Estate Expert To Sponsor RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon Visit To Two Schools In St. Charles On AUG. 29

St. Charles Ill real estate expert Tim Binning, broker/owner of RE/MAX All Pro in Bloomingdale, Ill., will bring the students at Ferson Creek Elementary School, 38W160 Bolcum Road, and Fox Ridge Elementary School, 1905 Tyler Road, St. Charles, Illinois, the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon on Aug. 29 to present a special interactive educational program.
