RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon To Make Educational Visit To Schools In Sterling And Rock Falls On Sept. 11

Students at two schools in the Sterling-Rock Falls area of north central Illinois will get an exciting introduction to hot air ballooning thanks to a visit from the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon and its crew on Sept. 11. The visit is part of an on-going interactive educational program developed and sponsored by the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network.

The 700 students at Challand Middle School, 1700 6th Ave., Sterling, and 320 students at Rock Falls Middle School, 1701 12th Ave., Rock Falls, will learn about various aspects of ballooning, including its history, the scientific principles involved and a demonstration on how the balloon functions. The program will be presented in the gymnasium at both schools starting at 9 a.m. at Challand and 1:30 p.m. at Rock Falls. At both schools, the 75-foot-long balloon envelope will be inflated with cold air so that students can walk inside it.
