RE/MAX Continued To Lead Lake County In 2008, Closing More Than 3,100 Home Sale Transactions

RE/MAX Network Again Tops Metro Chicago Real Estate Market

RE/MAX agents once again led the Lake County residential real estate market during 2008, representing either the buyer or seller in 3,110 home sale transactions, according to sales data available for Lake County through Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED). Since 1989, RE/MAX has ranked number one in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market based on residential listings sold.

“In a challenging environment for Illinois real estate sales, RE/MAX agents continue to demonstrate their skills and commitment,” said Jim Merrion, regional director of the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network.

RE/MAX agents listed 1,656, or 27.6 percent, of all residential properties sold in Lake County during 2008. They also led the county in buyer representation, assisting buyers with 1,454 transactions.

Home sales reported by MRED in Lake County during 2008 totaled 6,000, a 26 percent decrease from the 8,100 homes sold in 2007.

The top five real estate organizations in Lake County during 2008, in terms of listings sold, were RE/MAX with 1,656 (27.6 percent), Coldwell Banker with 994 (16.6 percent), Century 21 with 632 (10.5 percent), Baird & Warner with 473 (7.9 percent) and GMAC with 458 (7.6 percent). At the same time, RE/MAX agents led Lake County in buyer representation, closing 24.2 percent of all sales made of listed homes in 2008, topping Coldwell Banker (12.3 percent), Century 21 (11.7 percent), Baird & Warner (8.3 percent) and GMAC (6.8 percent). RE/MAX remained the market-share leader in buyer representation across the metropolitan Chicago real estate market during 2008, completing 16.4 percent of all buyer transactions.

RE/MAX agents once again led the McHenry County residential real estate market during 2008, representing either the buyer or seller in 1,396 home sale transactions, according to sales data available for McHenry County through Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED). Since 1989, RE/MAX has ranked number one in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market based on residential listings sold.

RE/MAX agents listed 686, or 24.6 percent, of all residential properties sold in McHenry County during 2008. They also led the county in buyer representation, assisting buyers with 710 transactions.

Home sales reported by MRED in McHenry County during 2008 totaled 2,786, a 26.3 percent decrease from the 3,781 homes sold in 2007.

The top five real estate organizations in McHenry County during 2008, in terms of listings sold, were RE/MAX with 686 (24.6 percent), Coldwell Banker with 433 (15.5 percent), Prudential with 388 (13.9 percent), Century 21 with 273 (9.8 percent) and Baird & Warner with 167 (6 percent). At the same time, RE/MAX agents led McHenry County in buyer representation, closing 25.5 percent of all sales made of listed homes in 2008, topping Prudential (16.2), Coldwell Banker (10.1 percent), Century 21 (10 percent) and Baird & Warner (6.6 percent). RE/MAX remained the market-share leader in buyer representation across the metropolitan Chicago real estate market during 2008, completing 16.4 percent of all buyer transactions.

RE/MAX Continued Leading Chicago Real Estate Market Based on 2008 Home Sales Activity

The RE/MAX Northern Illinois network was responsible for the sale of more homes in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market than any other brokerage organization during 2008. RE/MAX has maintained the number one position in the Chicago real estate market for the last 20 years.

“In a challenging environment for Illinois real estate sales, RE/MAX agents continue to demonstrate their skills and commitment,” said Jim Merrion, regional director of the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network.

RE/MAX agents listed 19.7 percent, or one of every five homes sold during 2008. In the suburban Chicago real estate market, RE/MAX led with a 25.7 percent market share, selling more than one of every four homes.

During the same period, RE/MAX agents represented buyers in 16.4 percent of transactions, including 21.3 percent in the Chicago suburbs, more than any other real estate company.

The data, which was provided by Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED), also showed that 67,938 residential listings were sold during 2008 in the seven-county metropolitan Chicago real estate market, which includes Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties. That is 26 percent fewer than the 91,766 homes sold in 2007.

RE/MAX agents listed 13,412 (19.7 percent) of the properties sold. Trailing RE/MAX in market share were Coldwell Banker with 10,292 sales (15.1 percent), Century 21 with 4,428 sales (6.5 percent), Baird & Warner with 3,520 sales (5.2 percent), Prudential with 2,927 sales (4.3 percent), GMAC with 2,856 sales (4.2 percent), @Properties with 1,943 sales (2.9 percent), Realty Executives with 1,707 sales (2.5 percent), Keller Williams with 1,608 sales (2.4 percent) and Rubloff with 786 sales (1.2 percent). In the metro Chicago real estate market, no one helped more buyers purchase homes than RE/MAX. During 2008, RE/MAX agents led the way with a 16.4 percent market share. Other companies in the top five were Coldwell Banker with 12.3 percent, Century 21 with 7.7 percent, Baird & Warner with 5.4 percent and Prudential with 4.5 percent.

According to MRED data, RE/MAX was the market share leader for listings sold in five of the seven counties, and it led all seven counties in buyer representation. RE/MAX also was the market share leader in more than 200 towns and communities across Chicagoland.

RE/MAX agents listed 2,110, or 26.7 percent, of all residential properties sold in DuPage County during 2008. They also led the county in buyer representation, assisting buyers with 1,711 transactions.

Home sales reported by MRED in DuPage County during 2008 totaled 7,915, a 25 percent decrease from the 10,553 homes sold in 2007.

The top five real estate organizations in DuPage County during 2008, in terms of listings sold, were RE/MAX with 2,110 (26.7 percent), Coldwell Banker with 1,192 (15.1 percent), Baird & Warner with 462 (5.8 percent), Prudential with 436 (5.5 percent) and Century 21 with 305 (3.9 percent). RE/MAX agents once again led the Elgin area residential real estate market during 2008, representing either the buyer or seller in 1,373 home sale transactions, according to sales data available for the Elgin area through Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED). Since 1989, RE/MAX has ranked number one in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market based on residential listings sold.

RE/MAX agents listed 713, or 29 percent, of all residential properties sold in the Elgin area during 2008. They also led the area in buyer representation, assisting buyers with 660 transactions.

The Elgin market includes the communities of Burlington, Carpentersville, East Dundee, Elgin, Genoa, Gilberts, Hampshire, Hanover Park, Lake Marion, Pingree Grove, Plato, Sleepy Hollow, South Elgin, Streamwood and West Dundee.

Home sales reported by MRED in the Elgin area during 2008 totaled 2,459, a 28.2 percent decrease from the 3,423 homes sold in 2007.

The top five real estate organizations in the Elgin area during 2008, in terms of listings sold, were RE/MAX with 713 (29 percent), Coldwell Banker with 290 (11.8 percent), Prudential with 177 (7.2 percent), Century 21 with 169 (6.9 percent) and Baird & Warner with 133 (5.4 percent). Home sales reported by MRED in the Greater South Suburbs during 2008 totaled 4,038, a 23.6 percent decrease from the 5,282 homes sold in 2007.

The top five real estate organizations in the Greater South Suburbs during 2008, in terms of listings sold, were RE/MAX with 988 (24.5 percent), Coldwell Banker with 411 (10.2 percent), Realty Executives with 348 (8.6 percent), Chicago Realty Partners, Ltd., with 188 (4.7 percent) and Keller Williams with 149 (3.7 percent).
