RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon To Make Educational Visit To Spencer Math & Science Academy In Chicago On May 1

The students at Herbert Spencer Elementary Math & Science Academy, 214 N. Lavergne Ave., in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago will get an exciting introduction to hot air ballooning when the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon and its crew visit the school on May 1. The visit is part of an on-going interactive educational program developed and sponsored by the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network.

The 400 students and staff at Spencer will learn about various aspects of ballooning, including its history, the scientific principles involved and a demonstration on how the balloon functions. The program will be presented twice in the gymnasium at Spencer to accommodate all the students, once at 9:30 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. As part of the educational presentation, the balloon envelope will be inflated with cold air so that students can walk inside it.

Students also will go outside for a demonstration of the balloon basket and its propane burners, which heat air to lift the balloon.

The students at Meadow View Elementary School, 2501 Mirage Ave., Plainfield, Ill., will get an exciting introduction to hot air ballooning when the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon and its crew visit the school on May 4. The visit is part of an on-going interactive educational program developed and sponsored by the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network.

The 950 students and staff at Meadow View will learn about various aspects of ballooning, including its history, the scientific principles involved and a demonstration on how the balloon functions.

The outdoor program will begin at 9:05 a.m. when all students will watch as the 75-foot-tall balloon is inflated on the school grounds. Later, a presentation on the fundamentals of ballooning will be presented twice in the school gymnasium to accommodate all the students, once at 9:30 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m.
