The 320 students at Garvey Elementary will learn about various aspects of ballooning, including its history and the scientific principles involved, and they will see a demonstration on how the balloon functions. The RE/MAX balloon will visit more than 40 schools this spring in northern Illinois.
The program will be presented at 12:30 p.m. outdoors on the school grounds, weather permitting, but can be moved indoors if required. During outdoor programs, the balloon envelope will be inflated with hot air to its full 75-foot height if conditions allow. When the program is presented indoors, the envelope is inflated with cold air and students have the opportunity to walk inside it.
