RE/MAX Firms in Northern Illinois Real Estate Market Ranked Among Most Productive in U.S. by Real Trends Report

ELGIN, Ill., May 17, 2011 -- A number of RE/MAX firms in the Northern Illinois real estate market, each of which is independently owned and operated, were recently spotlighted in one of the nation’s most prestigious surveys of real estate company productivity -- Real Trends 500.

The 2011 Real Trends 500, an annual report from Real Trends magazine, ranks the 500 most successful residential firms by closed transaction sides and closed sales volume. Rankings are determined by applications received. This year, 501 firms qualified based on transaction volume due to a tie for the final spot.

RE/MAX companies nationwide held 111, or 22.2 percent, of the Top 500 positions and accounted for 21 of the 25 top firms ranked by sales productivity per associate – the latter being a new category added by Real Trends this year.

The top-ranked RE/MAX company in northern Illinois was RE/MAX Suburban, with offices in Arlington Heights, Glen Ellyn, Libertyville, Mt. Prospect, Schaumburg and Wheaton. It was ranked 180th in transactions and 155th in sales volume. It was also ranked #22 among RE/MAX companies nationwide.

The Real Trends 500 rankings for RE/MAX Northern Illinois offices are as follows:

Real Trends also recognizes firms it calls “Up and Comers” because they closed at least 500 transactions in 2010 but were not among the top 500 as ranked by transaction volume. RE/MAX Northern Illinois brokerage firms named to “Up and Comers” were: RE/MAX Excels, Geneva; RE/MAX Showcase with offices in Lake Forest, Long Grove, Gurnee and Waukegan; RE/MAX Action, Lisle (RE/MAX rank 170th); RE/MAX All Pro, Bloomingdale and Sugar Grove/RE/MAX Great American North, St. Charles (RE/MAX rank 175th); RE/MAX South Suburban, Flossmoor (RE/MAX rank 182nd); RE/MAX Realty of Joliet, Joliet (RE/MAX rank 192nd); RE/MAX 2000, Crete (RE/MAX rank 199th) and RE/MAX Central, Roselle (RE/MAX rank 200th).

RE/MAX brokerage firms accounted for 201 of the 830 companies that were either in the Real Trends 500 or among the Up and Comers. Agents in those RE/MAX offices averaged 14.5 closed transactions each during 2010, nearly twice the average of its closest competitor among national real estate brokerage organizations.

“In what continues to be a very challenging period for residential real estate brokerages, we are proud that once again this year, 16 firms in our network have been recognized by Real Trends for their outstanding productivity,” said Jim Merrion, regional director of the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network. “RE/MAX offices and agents have historically been among the most productive in the industry, and as the 2011 Real Trends 500 results demonstrate, that continues to be the case.”
